Syttende Mai is practically a state holiday in eastern North Dakota. Deh put on a big spread down at the Sons of Norway lodge, doncha know. They dig out the akevitt and everything. Quite the deal.

I’m not sure why, but most of the Swedes ended up in Minnesota and most of the Norwegians ended up in North Dakota.
