I recently watched an interview on Mormon Stories of Mike Norton aka New Name Noah. Mike has really upped his actions against the church recently, so much so that John Dehlin almost didn't interview him because of some of Norton's extreme actions. In Dehlin's interview of Norton, Norton hands Dehlin a stack of forged temple recommends that he uses regularly to go in to various temples and secretly film all of the ceremonies there. Norton announces that "What I have done here is a felony. And I dare the church to prosecute me".

In the link below, Norton has gotten permission from an inactive church member, to use his name as an imposter. So Norton becomes active in a ward as this other guy, for 84 days. As this other person, he teaches Gospel Docterine classes, is issued a temple recommend, goes to ward temple night, and speaks in Sacrament meeting, all as a non-member. Norton resigned several years ago. His last day in church as this other guy, he bears his testimony of how he has faked everything, and he says "I know this church is through".

In the linked video, Norton Calls the second counselor in the Stake Presidency after that sacrament meeting and tells the counselor about how he lied about everything in his temple recommend interview. The Counselor was there in the sacrament meeting when Norton told everyone as his testimony that he was faking everything and walked out. So Norton then calls and accuses the Stake Second Counselor afterward, of lacking discernment, and asks if the reason for the counselors lack of discernment is because the counselor has a masterbation or a pornography problem.

It takes a lot to shock me and I was shocked. The link below is to one of a series of thirteen episodes of "The Making of Behind The Vail 2. (Episode 11)". YouTube doesn't make it easy to find all of these episodes. But if you start at episode 1, all thirteen episodes play sequentially. In one episode Norton gets arrested and prosecuted for tresspassing outside on the temple grounds, all on film. It looks to me like he tried to get caught. The Church Security guys are asking the arresting officer if they can search Norton's wallet to find his temple recommends because "they're stolen". The letter to Norton from the church's lawfirm tells Norton to "stay out of our temples".

If you like what you see from the link below, the best order might be to watch all three of Norton's Mormon Stories interviews (parts 1 to 3). Then start with "The Making of Behind the Vail 2, Episode 1). The recording of the ceremonies in other videos that Norton published is pretty dry if you've been through the temple yourself. The interviews and "The Making of..." had more entertainment value to me.

Enjoy !

Sounds more like punking than revenge. The guy seems like a big kid having some fun. Most of us don't have the time to waste on such pranks.

-NNN

A lot of people think his actions are over the top, too brash and give the ex-mo community a bad reputation.

I think he's very angry that he was duped.

I admit that I was pretty upset. I even thought that serving a mission would be a better church experience than having crappy ones while in the aaronic priesthood. Nope, just as bad.

Sometimes, I think JD attempts to gaslight his guests if they don't agree with his perception that growing up mormon wasn't a great thing. For me, the scars of the church are much deeper than discovering the teachings were contradictory and fraudulent.

Some of Dehlin's interviews are pretty good. I don't always agree with Dehlin himself. Dehlin is too much in the middle and trying too hard to recinsile conflicts nicely, than to kick ass when the church deserves a good ass kicking. I think that Norton is more likely to hurt the church more significantly than Dehlin is. I don't think that Norton necessarily gives the ex-mormon community any more of a bad image than Dehlin does. Norton tells the truth and doesn't lie or embelish anything when he gets serious about the exposing the religion itself, what the church claims to believe, and to expose where they lie. He only lies as a means to expose the church's fraud and then he pretty much tells everyone when and where he lied. There is a difference. You can't always be a gentleman when the enemy fights without honor or truth themselves. He is angry but anger itself isn't necessarily bad after you've been mis-treated and the anger is about that mis-treatment. I wouldn't want to be on his bad side myself though. That's for sure.

To Rubicon: Are you kidding? Norton's exposure of the temple ceremonies is probably one of the more effective actions against the church that I've ever seen. For those who have been through the temple, the chanting and funny clothing is just verification that he succeeded. For non-members, it's just plain weird and creepy. The juvenile approach with the Stake Counselor makes it funny in my opinion.

Why do you say he's apostate? Can't people be people? And false churches be in apostasy? Anyway... Jus'ayin'

Mike is having fun on their - once his - dime.

His planning and production is fantastic, his intentions good, his ability to pivot and change course and his choice of words/ language is not as sharp.

He's able to tell the truth and so he always wins. That's what scares top brass: Truth, and "winning"!

NNN’s actions don’t come close to the lies and fraud perpetrated by Mormonism.

Printing phony temple recommends? They’re all fake!

All those 8lb-10oz babies born prematurely six to seven months after a temple wedding speak to the power of the priesthood and the blessing of saving yourself for the temple.

Surely ghawd's hand is seen in the babies' rapid development, another benefit of being born in the covenant! Yes, ghawd surely does bless those who deserve it!
