Utah is set to break all kinds of heat records starting this weekend and go for days..St George might hit 111 degrees while Salt Lake might hit 104 degrees. Not a drop of rain in sight and wildfires everywhere and more starting up every day, seems like. Fire behavior is like August, say the experts and this is only early June. Farmers warn they won't even be able to water their crops so may not even plant.

Gotta come up with a better plan, Cox. Maybe double tithing?

I liked the suggestion here the other day that people stop begging, and start playing hardball: stop paying tithing until it rains. Hit him where it hurts.

Pray for seagulls. Surely they can do something.

Now they just crap on your car, necessitating a car wash. They don’t make miracles like they used to.

Washing your car has occasionally preceded rain/precip/moisture, but IDK if that correlation works in the IMWest.

Here's my favorite:

You sure that shouldn't be *always* NO?

Yeah, yeah. It's only a matter of weeks before you Californians are basking under the orange, pink, and purple skies of wildfire season.

The Americas as God's "choice land" is so pre-global warming!

Might want to beef up your food storage!

I know quite a few letting the fields lie fallow this year or cutting back at least half.

Got a notice the irrigation company might cut off water 1 august. Not a pretty sight.

Western Washington is forecasted to get over an inch of rain on Sunday. Maybe from northern California to British Columbia.

Unseasonably wetter than normal.

East side of state not so fortunate.

Speaking of British Columbia, it's raining as we speak here in my little town. I love the sound of rain on the windows.

Sorry, friends. We don't really need it but it is always plentiful here.

Usually always anyway.

Why don't the powerful "priesthood holders" command it to rain?
Imagine, the big guys out on temple square, arms drawn to the square, calling for rain! Wouldn't that be a sight? Maybe the tabernacle choir could form up behind them, and provide appropriately moving music. They could each carry an umbrella to indicate their confidence in the impending deluge.

And they have the perfect out, by ending their dramatic prayer beseeching rain with the equally dramatic observation, "...nevertheless, Lord, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven..."

Then 24 hours later, on KSL-tv, Rusty could shrug his shoulders and announce that "...ghawd has spoken, so we all better get in tune with the lord and stop watering our lawns. After all, He wouldn't send us this test unless he knew we could pass it! All hail Jehovah, ghawd of the Latter-day Saints!"

Drought forecast here in southern Alberta. And hotter then usual. I remember decades ago during another drought local Morg leaders were calling for prayers to end it. I honestly can't remember whether it worked or not. I know that I for one did not pray..and I was farming at the time.

Statistically speaking, prayer has exactly the same success rate as priesthood administration for the sick.

Farming in Utah is generally a joke compared to major agricultural production States.

If you are going to pray for rain do so on behalf of California farmers and those in "flyover country" where so many crops are grown.

I know, just tell the members to fast and pray to end the drought. Then if it doesn't end, just blame it on the MORmONs for not having nearly enough faith. Have them go fast and pray again, more fervently this time, with all the faith they can muster. And if the drought doesn't end and God decides to keep frying Utah like a bug under a magnifying glass, then blame the MORmONs once again for allowing David Archuletta to come out as gay.

It won't rain until Rusty travels by horse and cart down to St. George and brow beats them for more tithing. It worked for Lorenzo Snow. Why not stick with a sure thing?

Pray into one hand, sh*t in the other; see which hand fills up faster.
