My granddaughter and the cross

My kids have chosen not to burden my grandkids with organized religion.

Yesterday I was going through a box of old jewelry. I am letting my granddaughters pick an item or two they might like.

One item was my deceased wife's crucifix.

My 5 year old granddaughter picked it up and said "this looks like it is for fighting vampires."

She set it aside and chose a heart shaped pendant.

I took my kids out of mormonism at age 8 or so.

They had a best friend who was Baptist and my daughter wanted to wear a cross necklace, so I got her one. My sister had a fit.

Love that story. Kids say the darndest things. Remeber Linkletter?

Did you tell her it works just as well on Mormons as on Vampires?

When I was young the cross was practically considered the sign o the devil.

This makes me want to wear a crucifix. When people ask what religion I am, I say, it's to ward off vampires.
