I can't speak to motab tunes. Never really listened to them.

My Grandmother's favorite hymn was "Have I done any good in the world today?"

"Oh hush thee my baby" has been the go to lullabye for generations. My grandmother and mother sang it to me. The first time I held my granddaughter and she fussed I automatically sang it to her without even thinking.

As for the worst. "Follow the prophet" grates on me and I can't stand the melody.

One of the worst: Praise to the Man*

*but we don't worship Joseph Smith.

When I first saw the "God gave you a brain and the ability to think" thread, my mind went to my favorite edited hymn -

"Ere you left your room this morning, did you pray to think..."

Worst: "I Believe in Christ". It sounds like it was written by a committee.

I always wanted the choir to sing "Up, Awake Ye Defenders of Zion". It's in the hymn book. I have never actually heard it sung in any church meeting.

Most racist: "From Greenland's Icy Mountains". They altered the order of the verses several years ago so it wouldn't seem so culturally imperialistic.

Best: "Our Savior's Love". Written at a time when new ideas were actually sought after by the church.

I always liked "O'er The Gloomy Hills Of Darkness" -

Let the Indian, let the negro,
Let the rude barbarian see,
That divine and glorious conquest,
Once obtain'd on Calvary;

Other than some lyrics and one or two original hymns that come to mind is there much of thing called Mormon music in their worship? Most of the great hymn music predates much of Mormon history.
