I started hearing ads for this company dealing in preparedness products and immediately thought *LDS Survivalist Preppers*.

1**5 South M*****n P**k Road, Suite **, Salt Lake City, UT 84104
Anyone have any experience with them?

From an interview with the founder of My Patriot Supply:

Q:  Where did the idea for your company come from?

A:  My Patriot Supply was established because I’ve endured hard times and being unprepared is a nightmare.  Whether we like it or not, crisis(sic) and emergencies happen and My Patriot Supply supplies basic essentials for when that day comes.

Then my theoretical questions and answers:

Q:  So you endured hard times and didn't have food to eat?

    A:  Yes.

Q:  Were you in financial difficulty, or in a perilous situation?

    A:  What does it matter?

Q:  Would you rather be rich or poor?

A:  Are you questioning my motivation for starting my business?

Q:  Would you give away food to people who had none?

    A:  That's it, I'm done.

How come the only things I ever see advertised on programs of a certain political bent are:
dietary supplements
prepper supplies
pillows.
various metals, either for investment or ingestion or woven into compression bandages.

Yeah, I know the average age of their viewership is "dead", but still...

The word grifters comes to mind.

I wonder how useful a basement full of canned goods in New Orleans is right now. They couldn't take it with them during evacuation, and when they return, the cans will have had all the labels soaked off, the cans will be covered with mud, and rusting.

I suppose the stuff in plastic pouches is probably OK after a good hose-down, though the boxes they came in will be destroyed.

For most disasters that actually happen (fire, flood, tornado) a basement full of food is of little use. After a flood it is just one more thing to throw out.

No basements in NOLA. They even have to bury the dead above ground.

Yup. All the money I spent on all that food I ate and shared with my grown kids and grandchildren when they were out of work during lockdown. Not mention the stored detergent, dish soap and dry goods was a huge waste.

My niece lost everything after Hurricane Katrina. Nothing was salvageable, certainly not food.

We heated our MRE’s in the military by shoving them down the exhaust pipe of a big generator and then shooting them out by gunning the throttle. It worked great. We never used the heating bags. Food packed in that Mylar stuff can take a beating. MRE’s are good for five years if stored cool. The dehydrated stuff 25 years. In the Saudi Arabian heat probably less. I don’t miss sand getting into everything including the food I was eating.

Utah has always been a hub for emergency preparedness companies. Some of them make good products.

"Would you give away food to people who had none?"

Would a religion with a $100B hedge fund spend any on humanitarian causes?

Isn't it disgusting? Mormons are the worst offenders when it comes to selling Jesus.
