It’s been one hell of a run. A scam that fetched hundreds of billions of dollars. The problem is the church no longer can isolate it’s members and control information anymore and to fit in with 21st century society it would have to entirely scrap it’s history and doctrine and start over. Since people are less interested in religion now, losing a large portion of the church due to radical changes and trying to recruit new members probably would be a fool’s game.

You need to know when to hold them. When to fold them. When to walk away and when to run. I say it’s time to cash the chips in.

So, what to do with the $100,000,000,000 (that we know about)? Divvy it up among the members? the Q15? the SLC staff?

The church is a corporation. It has one shareholder and that’s Russell M Nelson. It’s kind of like a trust where the oldest surviving apostle runs the trust.

The members themselves have no legal access to the church’s assets. They are not shareholders or in line to be a shareholder.

In short, the church is all about the Quorum of the Twelve. The most senior apostle holds the shares and the rest are in line to be the next shareholders.

What the rest of the members get are pie in the sky promises of becoming a God. The church is really good at keeping them so busy they don’t have time to think. The temple is nothing more than more busy work and to motivate you to pay your tithing. It’s set up like an elite fraternity. You are special, you get a special anointing, a special access card and even a new name.

In short, the church is an exclusive club that takes your money and wastes your time.

That's exactly why it won't do anything
The members Do It All, and PAY to do it

Everything is calculated. The members pay about $7 billion in tithing a year and provide a lot of free labor. The dilemma the church has now is does it go full modern and lose a sizable part of it’s tithing paying slaves? It can’t make the LGTBQ people happy and their large base of supporters happy without losing a sizable portion of it’s membership base. Another question is can they bring new members in by going modernnthat would equally benefit the church? Then you have to get most the twelve apostles in agreement. That right there would be tough.

So they don’t know what to do and since the revenue stream is larger with it’s real estate holdings and businesses, the church would save itself a huge headache by just becoming a holding company. Ha! Ha!

I was thinking about this and I think withbthe hard-line stance they're taking to appease the oldies who currently contribute more in tithing and leadership they've already gutted out the generation coming up replace them.

In the UK at least I'd say they're getting close to critical mass. Give it 20 or 30 years and they'll be in big trouble. I think a steady decline and consolidation is already baked in for the next couple of decades.

Of course I think ego and hubris could play a big role in the upper echelons. No one wants to the be the one cave in or bear bad news. They've got a good gig going why spoil it.

Half of them will be long gone before it gets really pressing.

Personally I think the church has realised it can survive and probably even prosper financially with its non Church side now and it's happy to gradually let things wind down.

I think they already are a holding company. That’s why the wards get skeleton crew funding and no social life. They only need enough people to retain tax exempt status.

the church is doing better as a holding company than it is doing as a religion. The church is only tax free on it's church donations. It has to pay income tax on it's other income but free labor and tax free $billions is worth keeping the religious charade going.

The 'church' doesn't get headaches
It gives them freely to the members

All very true the members are not members of anything except what they've imagined up. The church is not even a real church but a corporation, there are no legal members. But in Joseph Smiths day it was a real church, the D&C describes it as a real church with literal members, with an actual vote that matters. They excommunicated all sorts of apostles back in the day Joseph wanted Sidney Rigdon excommunicated but was forced to relent because the members actually voted their prophet down. There'd never be a story like that today. Nelson gets to do what ever he wants.

Somewhere around the manifesto the church all changed into a corporation and became a legal entity that tossed away all the members, much of the wealth that had been developed and somewhat owned by members cooperatively in Utah was given to Joseph F. Smiths friends and crony's. Now it's basically a scam.

If you had been paying attention to church history you would have known it has been since April 6th, 1830 and even earlier.

What is to say they haven't been skimming the cream off the milk for decades?

That is because the milk was 10% before they got other people's cream.

They sell milk and meat and steal cream.

Dirty, sneaky, rotten - not to mention greedy, selfish and self-serving - "church"

The fact is, if TSCC was honest, it couldn't sustain itself.

It makes MUCH more money ACTING like it knows what's going on (and does know much of what goes on by intensive, invasive "interviews", tithing unsettling, testimonkeys, 'Mr. Ring', etc.), while staying one step ahead of the game.
