Yes, because the church is growing so gosh-darn fast in California.

Four temples and not a single Moroni among them.

They are all quite phallic, however.

So, is THE church starting to downplay all things BOM? No more pageants, missing Moroni etc.

I think you are onto something.

LOL. Burley.

I wonder if the church is building temples on land farmers leave to the church or something because there's nothing else to do with it.

I have it on good authority that the Forks temple will be announced in GC.

Money laundering

ChurchCo exists & grows by donations & earnings on investments, they have -0- need for money laundering which is moving money (funds, wealth, assets) from an illegal source to legal uses.

The church has more assets in commercial investments than it has in it’s temples.

I love the Payson Temple the best! Plus, the fact it is mobile, means you can take it to where you need it!

Fasten your seatbelt. Russ is going to announce at least ten more of these architectural tragedies in places that don’t need them. Talk about bridges to nowhere.

Are the architects trolling the church again?--especially Grand Junction. That is one ugly building.

They are all ugly. If LuLaRoe designed buildings, then they would look like Mormon temples. Tacky looking and poorly made.

They pretty much build them like office buildings. A steel super structure covered with outdoor wall board and cladding or precast concrete. I wouldn’t say they are poorly built. Some of the small temples had problems with water getting into the outside walls and rotting the framing. I don’t think any of the newer temples use wood framing. I think the wood ones were Hinkster era temples.

Seriously, all of them, so ugly.

Like, I've got no love for the temple but San Diego has a nice design and there's something majestic and towering like old world cathedrals about Salt Lake and Washington D.C. These renders though not only look exactly the same but they're blocky, simple, and not aesthetically pleasing at all.

ETA: omg.... I think I had some residual respect for temples. I just went looking for "most beautiful lds temples" assuming I'd find other examples. Other than San Diego, not only are all of them boring, blocky, and ugly....but they all look the same! They ALL look like these new temple renderings! An eye opener to how my perception was colored inside the cult. Now, outside looking in, I can see how ugly and devoid of innovation or design creativity "god's" castles are.

Yep, looks like Angel Moroni is being deprecated. Existing copies can remain but he is being phased out.

The Moroni statue is actually a decorative lightning rod.

It’s actually true. There are metal rods that stick out of the fiberglass statues and connect to a grounding cable.

I think Russ hates Moroni as much as he hates Mormon. He wants all that Book of Mormon junk gone. So he made a Lutheran Christus the new church logo.

BTW, in contrast, this is a halfway decent building inside, even though its purpose is just as stupid.

Bwah-ha-ha-ha! Still laughing at the Payson temple! Yorba Linda looks excactly like the Holliday Inn in Henderson! The others--I could give a dozen cube blocks to my kids, and they would build all the variations! Little future Mormon architects!

Ya gotta hand it to the Masons. Their phallis is bigger than than any Mormon phallis.

I think of Mormon temples as gigantic billboards to advertise Mormonism (or whatever they call it these days). More economical than billboards, temples hold the land tax-free, maintenance-free (member-slave-labor), and provide a dandy income by charging people an exhorbiatnt amount money to attend weddings and participate in rituals.

Win-win. (For everyone except us, and the citizens who have to look at the ugly things.)

I wonder if the Mormon church will ever get to the point when higher-ups say, "You know what, we have enough temples."

I guess there is no way LDS Inc. could build some low income housing or provide food for the poor instead of building temples. Jesus picks real estate over people now.

However, I am looking forward to wearing a MAGA hat and bringing a Big Gulp to the Burley Temple.
