the Scientologists have it but they're in a legal battle with ChurchCo as to ownership & future uses - displays.

ChurchCo claims the Scientologists stole it from the SL temple 'Holy of Holies' during renovation.

The former RLDS / now Community of Christ folks are ready to enter the case as interveners...

I always liked this version, putting it in Ethiopia:

And the Lemba version (just after it in Wicked Pedia) is fun too, although perhaps distressing to believers : "Lemba oral history claimed that the Ark exploded 700 years ago, and that they rebuilt the Ark on its remains." That version may have been stolen by Mugabe...
