I just watched the first episode and it was very interesting. I wanted to watch the second but my wife had to be somewhere so I am waiting for her to come home to continue. We have a daughter very similar to the blonde gal who was married to Shane.
My daughter came out to me this week, she is 19. She apologized. I said for what? I already knew from my wife, but was no matter. She continued by saying, I don't think grandma and grandpa are going to like it. I said, well that is just too damn bad for them now isn't it?
I told her don't worry lil'one, your ole daddy figured out the bs of the church 10 years ago and I have been on RFM and Mormon Stories podcasts ever since. I even said it to her in daddy baby talk, lol. I am a nerdy daddy.
I think as ppl watch this docu-series Mormon No More there is going to be immense media pressure on the church. Especially, after what Matt did at BYU Graduation. Very courageous and totally genius! That is why he is the Valedictorian.
For those of you unfamiliar with the plot line, Jana Reiss has a good review/preview of what it is about. She seemed pretty impressed with the production.
I just got through watching almost all of it tonight with my wife and I both loved it. The production was excellent. Hat's off to that team to put together such an educational program that is a tough topic to bring out public.
I won't spoil, but I got to say the Sally Osborne girl, if I got her name right, she is very impressive in her emotional intelligence. There is a scene where I could relate to her (I am a man) as she delt with her soon to be wife on how to handle spending money and having a wedding. My heck she was so awesome at validating emotion even though she did a lot of the practical tendencies of a human. I need coaching on how to be more in tune with feelings and expression.
The narrative of Sally and Lena doing all the right things as a Mormon and still not happy was very interesting to follow. "No Spoiler" but Lena's parents were the big surprise of the documentary.
As others have said, the production was top notch and easy to follow if you weren't a Mormon.
Also, I felt, the gay conversion topic was put to rest.
