Future son-in-law returned from overseas deployment,

Found a Mormon spouse (check)
Dated her for three weeks (Check, I guess)
Bought future wife a nice ring (check)
Asked future father-in-law and mother-in-law for their daughter’s hand in marriage (check)
Got on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend (check)
She accepted (check)

But… he forgot to do one thing…

He never figured out how to provide for his family (Oy vey).

Now son-in-law is making constant jealous remarks about father-in-law having a degree.

They now know son-in-law has a fragile ego. Maybe daughter should have figured this out during their three week courtship.

Found a Mormon spouse (uncheck)
Dated her for three weeks (3 whole weeks)
Bought future wife a nice ring (uncheck)
Asked future father-in-law and mother-in-law for their daughter’s hand in marriage (kinda of a check)
Got on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend (doesn't make marriage any better)
She accepted (Run Forrest Run)

Wow!

Mature people, no matter what age, know how to navigate life e including friendships & romances.

people change a lot as they (we) age, it's much better when desires, skills, values and attitudes are well formed - decided, but that's Definitely NOT THE CHURCHCO MODEL...

I heard the daughter literally say about raising her children in poverty: “They’re not going to get everything…” like we’re advocating them getting everything that their heart desires. Brainwashed.

Oh, I know the answer to this one!

He should pay tithing on the amount he *wants to earn*!

And then he can watch in awe and amazement as Da Lord™ opens up the windows of heaven so that there shall not be room enough to receive the blessings thereof! Yea, he shall verily be rewarded with a shower of gold!

if he was successful in the military, it would be mostly a cake-walk to get a job in law enforcement, good pay & benes...

He’s a friggin idiot.

He’s teaching his idiot brother-in-law the ins and outs of guns. Like that’s a good idea: ex-military teaching an unmotivated White teen about guns.

I'm wondering if he wants the FIL to subsidize that degree.

GNPE is right. A successful military hitch opens a lot of doors. It pushes that person to the head of the line for police, fire, and other government jobs. He could also use his educational benefits to pay for up to three years of college.

next stop: pregnancy, welcoming a newborn - followed by a host of other little ones.

A further impediment to earning a degree and getting ahead.

I sometimes wonder if having too many children too soon becomes the justification for not doing the hard work, combined with accompanying delayed gratification, that acts as a foundation for a good life. It doesn't have to be the degree, but the foundation whatever it is needs to be built.

I do admire the ones who had the children young and then go back for the education or "go for it" in some other way.

Life doesn't really pass you by---You pass life by?
