I love Ken Burns' films, as far as I'm concerned, he's a National Hero...


The current one seen here on PBS is about the Holocaust with some emphasis on U.S. direct & indirect involvement/influence...

The piece I saw last night mentioned the JW's being persecuted (some injured/killed? I didn't make a note) by the Nazis for not pledging allegiance - supporting the 3rd Reich.

Oh & what about the Mormons? crickets. Too bad they didn't mention Helmuth Hubner...

Jehovah's Witnesses deserve great respect for their attitude during the Nazi era.

Of the 35,000 JWs living in Germany at the time, 400 were executed and a further 1,100 died in concentration camps and prisons. In 1936 and 1937, JWs distributed 100,000 leaflets denouncing the oppression of their religious community. This is referred to by some researchers as the largest resistance action in Nazi Germany. The fate of Emmy Zehden, who was beheaded in Plötzensee in 1944, is exemplary.

The Mormons almost unanimously supported the Nazis. J. Reuben Clark hated Jews.

Nazis loved MORmONs for their devotion to the law of the land, even when the law of the land was corrupt.

Exactly, they went along with the Nazis especially German Mormons because that party was the law of the land. The practice that went on of baptizing Holocaust victims in the temples wasn't a good thing for Mormons to do.
