There is a sad story out of Farmington, Utah.

A local seminary teacher was out for a jog and found himself on a freeway overpass.
In an attempt to avoid traffic, he ran to the side of the bridge and jumped over the barrier...and fell 40 feet to the ground.
He is still in the hospital, hopefully he will recover.

The weird part is that there's a pedestrian walkway next to the bridge.
It has chain-link guards on both sides of it, so you can't fall off or throw anything onto the freeway.
There is an 8-foot gap between the bridge and the walkway.
Somehow, the seminary teacher must have assumed there would be ANOTHER sidewalk next to the walkway.

I'm sure there is a lesson for us in there somewhere.
At the very least...look before you leap.

"He is still in the hospital, hopefully he will recover"

I'm sure he regrets not wearing his magic underwear.

When I first lost my belief in the afterlife, I spent several months worrying that I might die unexpectedly.
After all, I didn't have guardian angels watching over me anymore.

I started being more careful while driving or doing things that could be dangerous.
The pressure was on ME now.

It may not have anything to do with this poor seminary teacher, but did anyone else notice that being a believer made you a little more reckless?

I am curious why the runner didn't use the wide pedestrian sidewalk and covered overpass in the first place. Is it considered sissy to run on a trail/sidewalk in Utah?

He's lucky that he didn't get creamed by a train where he fell (if I am looking at the right location).

He didn't fall, he jumped. He must have received a spiritual confirmation that there was something to land on, and the HG was right. There was.
