First, they sweep it under the rug and hope nobody brings it up.
Then WHEN, not ‘if’, a critic brings it up, again and again and again, they ask, ‘what makes you so angry?’
Or,”What difference does that make to your salvation?’
Or,’You can leave MORmONism but you just can’t leave it alone can you?’
Or,”He was speaking as a man.”
Or my favorite, “That was normal back then.”

Any excuse but to actually admit the bad behavior (racism, sexism, homophobia or sexual abuse) was actually, bad.

Any other thought stopping cliches you’ve heard in response to criticisms you’ve made of the abusive CULT we were born into?

WHAT? No link? I feel jip'd. Don't start getting cheap on us now!

But all seriousness....I was normal back then too.

Huh?
Back when JS and BY were having their way with their followers teenage daughters and wives?
Was that ever ‘normal’ outside of an abusive doomsday Cult?
What is it about cults that makes them all lead to some kind of sexual exploitation and abuse?
What do all of the following have in common?

Mormons and the sex abuse of Boy Scouts and countless victims of sexual abuse/rape.
Fundamentalist Mormons,
Branch Davidians,
Ramtha Cult,
Bagwan Shree Rashnish,
Catholics and Altar Boys/abused murdered Natives

Well, I caught those but the lastest ones are;

"where will you go?" answer: "Instead of studying on how to have the best death/afterlife, I'll study on how to live".

"I don't know that we teach that"..."We don't know what you teach because each prophet has contradicted the previous and canonized scriptures"

"I'm proud of our church having been blessed with wealth to protect us for hard times ahead"..."...And in the last days, no money or credit will be taken or given, because all will be living with all things in common (or is that another teaching/prophecy spoken by a man not a prophet?)"

"Have you checked what the handbook says about it?"

"The Thinking has been done, Have you read and studied the scriptures?"

Anywhere but inside of Plato’s Cave of Shadows.

Ignorance is no excuse 22yrs into the Information Age. You have a smart phone right? It’d take you a few seconds to Google the words, ‘Joseph Smith wives.’ and tell me how you reconcile what you find with the ‘Revelation from God’ where He defines that as adultery. Then tell me how you sing his praises in good conscience.

As if banks will still operate after the Apocalypse?

That’s they interesting thing about the church’s white papers on controversial topics, members never read what the church publishes or they pretend to know nothing about how many wives Joseph Smith had, but how ever many it was, it was fine with God, otherwise God would have taken his life!

Mormons start with the conclusion, “The Church is true. Joseph Smith was a prophet who spoke to God and the current Prophet does today.” We were taught to parrot as our Mothers whispered it in our ears in our formative years. Then they make everything fit that conclusion. Never the other way around, let the evidence lead to the most logical conclusion, or they’d figure out it was a fraud and get the hell out.

So they first, they question the source. (Uh, the Mormon church itself, and their own scriptures condemn the abusive behavior the church admits JS and BY committed)

Then they question your behavior just for bringing it up.
They get offended and accuse you of being contentious and abusive for bringing up the abusive behavior.
Then they do everything in their power to get you kicked off the island.

It's wrong to criticize your leaders even if the criticism is true.

Doubt your doubts.

Lazy learners.
