https://www.axios.com/local/salt-lake-city/2023/02/22/sec-mormon-leaders-shell-companies-hide-wealth

“The head of Ensign Peak told The Wall Street Journal in 2020 the church didn't want members to know the scale of its wealth because they might stop paying tithing.”

“Ensign Peak in 1998 planned to use "other entities" to file its disclosures — a strategy the investment firm could not authorize "without the approval of the Church's First Presidency," per the settlement.

Church leaders approved the first shell company's creation in 2001, and another in 2005 because the person signing the disclosure forms could be traced to the church. Church leaders wanted "better care … to ensure that neither the 'Street' nor the media connect the new entity to Ensign Peak," according to correspondence cited by the SEC.

Church leaders approved new shell companies in 2011 after Ensign Peak warned them it had enough money to attract attention — and again in 2015 when a "third party" connected the various LLCs to the church.

Of note: The settlement states the "senior leadership of the Church" refers to the First Presidency — the prophet and his top two counselors — and the Presiding Bishopric, which manages the church's "temporal" resources like money and buildings.”

If this doesn’t put a dent in the income of this fraudulent pyramid scheme I don’t know what will.

But they were justified in the eyes of god.

By their own admittance they did it protect members from the temptation of not paying tithes, offerings, missionary expenses and providing free labor because they'd might rationalize the church didn't need their money and thus lose the spiritual and temporal blessings and jeopardize their eternal salvation.

Remember it is better to lie to the IRS than to allow the world to dwell in unbelief.

Yeah, a lot of other churches wouldn't have gone the extra mile!

Sometimes the Devil is the only one open for business.

The devil is in the details
And is always open for business...
As long as Mormonism is operating
(It's patients are the members)

So while me and my wife and kids were forced to scrub church toilets, because the CULT could no longer afford to hire a janitor, they were illegally dividing their obscene fortunes into shell companies to avoid attracting attention, to keep us paying into these shell corporations, all earmarked for an imaginary future when Jesus returns, and all that money becomes suddenly, worthless.
The "Prophet" (Godfather) and his hitmen, need to be in jail for massive fraud and the tithes and offerings returned with interest and penalties.
According to the CULT, they're paying their penalty to the Government and that's the end of the story.

How is that repentance without restitution?

You are so right on the money being worthless on the much spoken about return of Christ.

I knew that I and everyone else who had ever donated had been pooched and used when the whistle blower let it be known about Ensign Peaks.

That guy had courage and integrity, and of course there is no doubt he is no longer a member. So when people show more honesty and integrity while they are members than those who claim to be seers and revelators.

Who are you going to believe?

I've been saying it for years. People always give attorneys a hard time, and or good reason. But they are not the real villains in the world. Accountants are the real scourge of society.

Yes, but can accountants behave in any other way, short of resigning and taking up a different line of work?

Because apparently, the C suite of ghawd's church is worthless . . .
