If course this doesn't apply to Logan or City Center..but most temples I've seen are just creepy to me in this "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" kind of way.

I slightly got into the temple for the exclusivity of it, but pretty quickly going there began to feel perfomative and tacky. I did like the proxy baps though. Maybe I'm weird, ha!

I never found the Washington DC temple all that great on the inside. It's bland. It's cool looking on the outside.

Probably the weirdest is the Idaho Falls temple. It was live when I had my endowments taken out. I remember having a headache trying to remember everything they were showing us.

I got through the veil very frustrated and I'm ready to get the hell out of Dodge and my mom goes aren't you going to enjoy it? I thought I was in a foyer. There was a table with flowers and a chandelier above it. A bunch of doorways leading to various rooms and hallways. Some weird murals on the walls that made no sense.

I'm thinking what am I supposed to enjoy in here? I saw fancier lobbies in hotels. Anyways my parents were all excited driving home and I'm thinking I made the biggest mistake I ever made. I took my garments off when I got home put my shorts and T-Shirt on and went to bed.

When I went to the open house, I found the interior to be rather mixed. Yes, a lot of it was "boring beige." The instruction rooms were bland, as were the sealing rooms. I remember thinking that if I were a bride, I'd be disappointed.

I did enjoy the vintage late '60s to early '70s furnishings. The oval-shaped Celestial Room is nice, and I especially liked the stained glass in the lobby and in the corner stairwells.

The paintings/prints were Mormon-standard bland. Nice, but bland. I noted that there were only two or three of Joseph Smith that were hung in out-of-the-way places. Most were of Jesus, or other biblical characters. There were a few decent landscapes. I wondered if the de-emphasis of Joseph Smith was at Rusty's direction.

And I agree, the outside of the temple is lovely, especially when you see it from the side view. The grounds are gorgeous, with beautiful plantings and landscaping, some of which involves the local woods.

I remember the first time I went inside a temple. I thought, "OMG, this place looks like a cross between Grandma's living room and Little America."

There was a Bullocks department store at Wilshire and Westmoreland, in Los Angeles that very much looked the part.

They are horrible. I just assumed there weren't many members who were architects.

I'm surprised the San Diego temple hasn't attracted UFOs.

Ohh yea, the San Diego Temple is a particularly creepy monstrosity.

I think a lot of the temples are beautiful. Sure, they aren't groundbreaking architecture but they look better than a lot of contemporary buildings IMO. San Diego included.

On the other hand, LDS chapels are often very ugly.

I think they look like septic dump stations. The minute I see one I start smelling shit.

I never found the insides attractive at all, nor inviting as I was herded/escorted everywhere.

I always thought they looked more like hotels.

I mean I took my nevermo wife through the tour before dedication of Albuquerque temple; and sure enough they had Kleenex boxes in crocheted covers that looked sad, and you think of the poor widow who crotched them and how proud she probably was thinking her "talents" and art was in the Celestial room.

to be fair; many of the temples try to reflect the city/area they are serving; the one here in Tucson looks like a Catholic Spanish Mission or the Snowflake looks like a Pueblo/Aztec temple.

Most of them are tacky and uninspiring on the outside. Some can look quite striking, I think Logan is a rather neat looking building, and the SL Temple does harken back older European cathedrals. Most are boring and uninspiring, and some are just downright tacky eyesores (looking at you San Diego...). Inside, they are boring as hell. Totally agree with the others who say they look as beautiful or inspiring as the lobby of a Marriott hotel.
