It's a complex topic, and we want there to be more transparency about it.
Examples of cases we've included even though there wasn't a conviction:
--
Philander Smartt, former mission president:
https://floodlit.org/a/a328/Wasn't charged with a crime, but the LDS church acknowledged that he deceived and victimized multiple sister missionaries serving under his direction, and called his behavior "immoral and sinful."
--
Joseph Bishop, former MTC president:
https://floodlit.org/a/a027/No criminal charges, but there might have been were it not for statute of limitations restrictions. The case was highly publicized and the LDS church weighed in multiple times.
--
John Parkinson:
https://floodlit.org/a/a276/Conviction eventually reversed.
--
Efrey Guzman:
https://floodlit.org/a/a441/Mormon branch president in Utah who was acquitted in 2014 of various sexual assault charges.

When people debate cases like the above, we want floodlit to be a place they can turn to for accurate information.
