I'm not usually a fan of horror, but that looks interesting.

Four weddings, a funeral, and a baptism? Hahaha. I always associate Hugh Grand with dumb rom-coms.

"The short preview shows two female (“sister”) missionaries — wearing the familiar black nametags of the Utah-based faith and saying they are from “The Church of Jesus Christ” — knock on the door of a chipper but creepy psychopath played by Hugh Grant.

He invites in the young women, traps them, then tricks and presumably tortures them. He tells the terrified missionaries they can leave but have to choose between doors marked “belief” and “disbelief,” and says, ominously, “It will make your hearts beat faster. It may even make you want to die.”

    Who plays the DL and his newbie companion who use the power of prayer and the dust on their heels to save the two virgins of the lamb of ghawd?

It should have been you.

The climactic scene:

Just as the villain is about to slaughter the two sisters, eod rides up on his bicycle, and pulls his quad out of his backpack.
Raising his right arm to the square, he casts out (in Spanish) the evil spirit possessing the villain.

Once the sisters are safely out of the house, eod dusts off his feet and climbs back on his bicycle. As he rides away into the sunset singing "We Thank Thee oh God for a Profit", the villain's house explodes in a fireball and everyone bears their testimony.

    ...I've got something in my eyes, and I couldn't finish reading it...  So moving!!!  

    Maybe I could do a wheelie...for ghawd?

I always loved in the movie "Orgasmo" by Trey Parker where they zoom in on the missionaries and the badges say "Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Aints"

    But seriously, folks...  The church is going to be way pissed if an angel of the lord doesn't save these servants of the true ghawd...

    I can see the church announcing that NOBODY involved with this project will have their temple work done for them until the last day of the Millennium!  See how they like spending a thousand years in Spirit Prison on short rations!

    And all they had to do was make the church look good, with a closing scene of the Lady Elders getting married in the temple within months of being released from their successful, fruitful missions!!!!

I can see it all now. Due to their faith and prayers, Gawd saved them from the evil atheist!

I could possibly see some MP actually showing this movie in zone meetings, to scare the bejesus out of his missionaries. "See, this is precisely why we have so many rules about meeting in people's homes! These sisters were not obedient, they went into a house unaccompanied, and look what happened! Always be obedient and you will be protected!"

    So, we're pretty much all in agreement that this doesn't have a happy ending?

    I wonder if viewers will get to see holy garments.  Wouldn't it be something if he asks them, in a creepy voice, to explain the markings as he's touching each mark, one by one, with the tip of a wicked, apostate knife...

    I hope there's a blip at the end of the credits showing him reading an article about the church announcing that because the Lady Elders haven't turned in stats for three weeks, they've been officially released and have to find their way home on their own; the church has washed its hands of them.

It’s amazing to me that more Sister missionaries don’t get abducted/kidnapped in some of the dangerous countries they serve in, like America.

The women have stricter rules than the men. Male missionaries have been kidnapped and there are even films made about it.

Tell me more about those movies, and the actual cases. I don't like TSCC but wouldn't wish any such thing on mishies.

    I'm betting that the most famous missionary kidnapping was this one:

    The young man finished his mission, returned to Provo and is still living his very private life.


    There was a Russian case in which two missionaries were kidnapped and held for ransom.  The church finally wore the kidnappers down and ransomed the young pair for $4 American and some McDonald's coupons (which turned out to have expired)!

It was filmed in Vancouver last fall. The release date is November 15th, and it's going up against some heavy hitters, including Gladiator II, a Tom Hanks movie, and a Dwayne Johnson movie. I suppose it's looking for that niche horror audience. On to Cinemax after that.

It's still big business. Some people need to follow a leader.

One of the actresses who plays the sister missionary "Sister Barnes" is Sophie Thatcher. She was raised LDS which explains why this move seems to capture the little details of missionary life, dress, behavior and speech patterns so well. They really nailed it.
