I unlocked a memory. When I was a teenager in the 00s in Salt Lake, they used to sell this brand of modest clothing at Seagull Book called Downeast. My mom got me into it and I’d buy solid long sleeve shirts and mix and match them with undershirts with lace trim or different colors. Looking back, it was really odd and unflattering. I don’t see it around much anymore.

Sounds like they were trying to taken advantage of the term “Modest is hottest,” lol.

Provo, UT back in the early to mid 1960s had a reputation as a place to test market clothing to college age kids because BYU was very fashion-conscious and stuff that did well there tended to do well nationally.

I was a complete duck out of water when it came to cool fashion because I grew up in an east coast coal-mining town, very few Mormons, even fewer Californians, so I never got the memos re fashion.

I don't even remember the "in" brands. Florsheim was one. Cologne was either Jade East, Brut or Canoe. Only certain style Levis were acceptable, and other denim brands were not acceptable, period.

I think that pretty much died down in the 1970s, though "Climbing the Stairway to Nordstroms" was probably a thing clear into the naughts. Or maybe I was out of college, and therefore out of the loop completely, working in software development, and being completely out of LDS Inc. :)

I've seen some very odd "fashion" trends from Mormonism including women wearing t-shirts underneath sundresses with spaghetti-strap tops or sleeveless tops.

I'm pretty sure they started making layering half-shirts, too. Bottom half, not a crop top. They'd lengthen a shirt and give it the layered look.

With the new redesign of women's top garment it will allow women to wear more comfortable clothing.
