I was at the pharmacy 3 weeks ago to get my Shingrix shot since I am an old fart. The pharmacist recommended a covid booster as well since my last one was 6 months ago. I still got covid. Tested positive today after coughing and feeling sick yesterday and today so I went to my doctor. Never anticipated covid. Figured it was bronchitis. Slight fever 99.5.

It is still around even though it does not seem to be making the news lately. If you are feeling ill, be sure to get tested.

Hope you don't have a bad go of it and are recovered soon. My best friend and her husband are both sick, fatigue, bone wracking coughs, aches. They haven't tested, but are laying very low at home. They recently returned from an Alaskan cruise, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's COVID.

Just got my Shingrix and Covid this week. I also had a friend that caught covid before a 3 week tour of Europe, she had to cancel.

More time in your own garden and less running around!

Perhaps less running around :-). I had to cancel two gigs this weekend due to covid. One of the gigs said they would reschedule. While waiting at the Dr’s office I got an email for 3 more gigs. I am busy with music. It is something I love to do. I have 9 performances coming up of the musical Wizard of Oz where I play in the orchestra bit the bass clarinet, alto sax and clarinet. It is a challenge especially swapping an instrument with only 2 measures to make the change. It will probably be my last year doing these musicals. It is a major commitment. So yes I will start slowing down.

Bummer! I hope it doesn't make you too sick.

It would be interesting to know what variant you picked up and what the vaccine mostly contained. I haven't been keeping up on them all.
There are a few new variants. None seem as deadly as the one we experienced. I'm hearing more about variant NB.1.8.1 as the one to watch. I'm hoping the vaccine will help prevent you from severe case at least.

I need to get both those vaccines too. We recently had shingles in our family and it was not fun at all.

Get better!

Thanks for the reminder. I've been putting off getting my booster. I did catch Covid a year ago February. I had gotten my booster maybe 5-6 months prior. Fortunately was a lot like the flu for me (I hadn't gotten the flu in years and years.)

I hope that you feel better soon, Eric. Rest and take care.

I’ve got a major trip planned in early October, so passed on a booster right now, will get one around Labor Day. Last booster was in October ‘24. Fingers crossed that works out OK.

Or you could get it now, to be on the safe side in the present, and then get it again before your trip if that is recommended. I guess it depends on when you received your last dose.

In Canada they recommend that adults receive it once a year, or twice a year for anyone at increased risk.

I think that indicates that they expect the beneficial effects of the vaccine to last 12 months, at least for the average relatively healthy person.

The recommendations also take age into consideration. Just sayin'. :)

Feel better soon!

I know the vaccines are controversial to some people, but I want to keep availing myself of them so I hope they stay available in the U.S. I'm a bit worried they won't be as available or as affordable in light of the current goings-ons....
