We left the corporation 30 years ago. Cleveland had a small ward with only a few priesthood 'holders' where morning meetings might have only 3 or 4 in attendance. Now it is a stake center. The city has more than doubled in size in 30 years so I suspect the majority of the church growth has been move ins. There are plenty of job opportunities as major corporations have been expanding here and the cost of living is lower than most of the country. It is disappointing to see the church expand. Folks however are free to waste their lives in a cult. The information is out there which is easily found that fully debunks this organization.
Oh well. Back to practicing for the Wizard of Oz which feels appropriate for this time. I am playing in a small orchestra switching between alto sax, clarinet and bass clarinet. I have 9 performances in July and a full week of rehearsals starting today. This is much better than sitting in stifling Mormon meetings. It is has been one of the best parts of my retirement to meet so many interesting people in my various musical ventures. Some have become good friends. Being an active Mormon and even serving as a missionary was never this enjoyable or fulfilling. I do solo shows at assisted living facilities as well having just played at one Friday. Anyway, back to torturing the neighbors cats and dogs with my practicing.
