Good guy. Good read. Ran into him a few times on this board back 10 to 15 years ago. Not having ever met him or even corresponded, I still cried. He was such a strong figure here at that time.

It's amazing how that happens isn't it. We can get to feel close to people we'll never meet because so many have shared experiences. It's healing to be able to relate to people who know *exactly* what you've been through, what you're talking about, and a good deal of how you may feel - so many mixed emotions.
Steve certainly had strong views. I admired him for that. I'm more of one to shrink into the corner to avoid confrontation (unless very challenged and/or I feel exceptionally passionate about an issue - it happens). It didn't mean he didn't have a soft side, although that wasn't the Steve that many posters here knew. He was certainly passionate about his views. I admire that. Even I get tired at times of being a shrinking violet but still find it challenging to confront people even if they need it.
It was beautiful, touching, entertaining, heartfelt, and amusing. I never was able to meet Steve in person, though had wanted to since 1993 or earlier. Rest in peace, Steve. And Claire, I hope you have found comfort and solace. He will truly be missed by many.
