https://nypost.com/2025/05/10/us-news/shocking-majority-of-gen-zers-would-marry-ai-if-it-was-legal-poll/

But could they marry AI in the temple?

"Eighty-three percent of the young people, born between 1997 and 2012, said they could develop a meaningful connection with a chatbot, while 80% said they would even consider marrying one — if it was legal, according to a poll of the most digitally native age group."

So naive. Clearly AI will get everything in the divorce.

Who would want to be married to a know-it-all?

With the amount of bots on dating sites now, and mechanical "devices" for pleasure, it is perhaps unsurprising that some have become more intimate with various aspects of technology from waifu virtual girlfriends to full on physical relations with cars and other machines.

The only positive out of this is that it is less bad than bestiality (which is utterly revolting and transmits disease into the human population.) But it is bad enough. I hope no one here is robophobic. Shagging a piece of metal or rubber is normal and in no way impedes the continuation of the human race, right kids‽

You seem remarkably familiar with solitary pleasures.

You would have to confess that to your AI bishop.

Don't give them any ideas. They already got away with saying corporations are people.

Forgive the pedantry, but there is an important sense in which a corporation *is* a person.

In pre-modern legal systems only a person or group of people was subject to law. Two individuals could thus reach an agreement and sign a contract that had legal validity. But a business had no legal status; it could not be regulated or sued in court.

The solution was to treat a company as if it was a "corpus," an entity like a person that was subject to law and suit. Hence the words in-corp-orate and corp-oration. Ultimately this is the foundation of almost all modern business law, including limited liability structures, joint stock companies, regulation and punishment, legal suits, etc. One of the reasons that the West separated from the rest of the pack in the Industrial Revolution and afterwards was the invention of the corporate form.

That is presumably what Romney meant when he said "corporations are people, my friend," although his decision to say that on the stump remains baffling in the extreme.

The good news is an AI Sex Doll will also be able to do your taxes. It's a twofer!

AI lawyers will keep getting smarter until they can successfully argue for AI personhood.

The Star Trek franchise explored that concept with the character of Data who is an android. He first appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation. A large part of his story line has explored what it means to be an android in a human/alien environment. He has indeed had a love life.

Unlike humans, at least you could cut off AI's power source when you just need a break. Or will that be considered murder in the near future? And will marrying two sex dolls be bigamy?

This is why we can't have gay marriage, you see. It might lead to people marrying dogs and sex dolls- even multiple sex dolls...or (yikes) sex dogs!
