i posted a picture of this cool version of the second coming on facebook:
http://mormoninfo.org/files/images/jesus_return3.jpg

with the text:
"this is a cool picture, i've never seen it before"

and a TBM friend commented on it thus:
"maybe because we dont use it!"

***[omg, eye roll and sigh =)]***

i wrote her back:
"do you only look at lds art? =)"

her response:
"i use the church's own webpages and pictures we get in the lesson manuals...and those we can buy from the church. you have to get things from the right source =)"

my response:
you know that the "source" of the Christus statue ISNT from the lds church right? =) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_Our_Lady_%28Copenhagen%29

she hasnt responded after that yet... =)

But, art is a very personal and subjective thing anyway.

Last week I visited, with my sister, The Lowry Gallery in Manchester/Salford. I am a better person for the visit for sure. I love primitive art that captures the spirit of who we are but that's just me.

Off to the Tate soon - I wonder if I will be as moved on that visit - we'll see.

'And he painted matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs. He painted kids on the corner of the street that were sparking clogs. Now he takes his brush and he waits, outside those factory gates, to paint his matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs'

Wonderful!!!!

We all know that if it were an accurate portrayal they would all be riding tapirs.
