I was watching PBS last night and saw a show called We Shall Remain, about the systematic removal of Native Americans from the continent.

While I was watching it I couldn't help thinking about Joe Smith and the BoM. When the BoM came out the genocide of Native Americans had been going on for over 200 years. Of course the BoM says that the Native Americans were Lamanites, and that they were loosing their land because of their wickedness. Convenient that Ol' Joe Smith would write a book in 1830 prophesying the end of the Native Americans as god's will. Then in 1890 the Wounded Knee Massacre symbolized the end of Native American resistance. So when Ol' Joe Smith wrote the BoM his prophecy was already 3/4 completed.

To quote Bill Maher from his movie Religilous, "I only thing I hate more than prophecy is self fulfilling prophecy".
