This morning I have seen a few advertisements from Walmart that remind me a lot of the "I am a Mormon" ads.

Nice normal people of different races and backgrounds and they end their story, "I work at Walmart."

Anybody thoughts? Which came first? Was the Mormon one so successful that Walmart copied it?

Considering how well revived the LDS is, maybe Walmart IS the LDS's PR firm.

I think Mormonism and WalMart go hand in hand...

"I work at walmart. And I'm a mormon."

Except that it's not as successful, thankfully.

Let's hope someone doesn't start a "People of Mormonism" web site like the "People of Walmart" site! That could be scary. '

Unlike Walmart, Mormons can get away with much more than Walmart because their business masquerades as a religion.

The people of Mormonism website! I can think of plenty of people I'd be sneaking around trying to take photos of.

I forgot to mention another difference between WalMart and Mormonism is that WalMart probably donates more money to the poor and needy.

Please--someone start one! That would be GREAT.

I have watched a couple of them and have been struck that they are followers of authority. They fit well into organizations that require devotion and obedience to the rules as well as ask them to disregard to the larger implications of Walmart's abuse of labor and resources worldwide.

They actually made me feel a little pity for them and then I turned away because they were hard to watch. Yeah, they get a wage, but at what cost to their own creativity. They are very security-minded people. But they happen to have chosen an organization that regards them as units of production, nothing more and which will work them to the bone and jettison them at will.
