As a member, you're constantly told that you are special, elect, valiant in the pre-existence (I always wondered how something could exist before it existed...) and so on.

Then you're also told how you need to "raise the bar" and do more, all the time. It isn't enough to just be worthy, you have to convert others and make them worthy.

Essentially, mormonism will eventually make you feel like you are the Piece of Shit that the world revolves around.

I couldn't take that kind mind-effing, so I got off the ride.

Very well expressed. I saw a lot of this behavior conflict when I was in that church.

I didn't suffer from it, myself, though, as I had a different issue. As a convert, I was made to know that while I was nowhere near as worthwhile as those who were BIC, at least I wasn't quite as worthless as other "non-members".
