Dallin Oaks spoke that gay rights are ”newly alleged” civil rights. Applying his words to the following recent incident (non-LDS), the rights of two human beings were only "alleged". Their home was burned and they lost everything -

“One threat that was made over and over was, ‘We take care of things the hillbilly way, and a lot of bodies have never been found in these hills,’

While Oaks has alleged that the LDS suffer backlash for their stance on morality, his counterpart Boyd K. Packer has in fact advocated violence against gays.

Of particular concern is the recent re-release of the pamphlet To Young Men Only which admonishes young LDS men to "protect themselves" by physically assaulting gays when confronted with their homosexuality. This was re-released at the same time as the Matthew Shepard murder trials. Very few people in the LDS Church are aware that one of the two young men convicted of Matthew Shepard's beating death was a young Mormon Priesthood holder.

Here are the inspired words of Boyd K. Packer -

"I hit my companion."

"Oh, is that all"

"Somebody had to do it, and it wouldn't be well for a General Authority to solve the problem that way"

It wouldn't be well for an apostle to hit someone, but its acceptable for an apostle to say that it has to be done. Nice words of inspiration from an apostle.

The inspired words of violence by Boyd K. Packer were given during his famous "little factory" talk.

In simple terms, this is what he said:

To beat a gay is acceptable
To beat your meat is a sin

Um.... I read that talk and it sounds like the one guy was "enticing" the other to sexually experiment with him.

"There are some men who entice young men to join them in these immoral acts. If you are ever approached to participate in anything like that, it is time to vigorously resist.

While I was in a mission on one occasion, a missionary said he had something to confess. I was very worried because he just could not get himself to tell me what he had done.

After patient encouragement he finally blurted out, "I hit my companion." "

The details are a little sparse - and could be read a variety of ways, however; I doubt that one companion just said to the other, "Hey, can I mess around with your junk? Oh, no? K thx anyway."

I think it is more likely that one companion made physical advances onto the other - ergo the close proximity ... close enough to punch.

The other thing is the unspoken feeling of the confessing companion. Maybe *I'm* reading into it, but what if the tattle tale comp didn't know how to react, and the homo comp felt him up a bit and then KABAM! Punch. Often, people of sexual assault feel ashamed of the groping part - even if they resist and fight back.

Who knows?
Just saying.
