Scientology!

After Sunday's football game (I'm late, I know) I was watching American Idol (Nothing else was on) and during maybe the first commercial break there was an ad for Scientology.

I live in NYC and though we had that I'm A Mormon billboard a few months ago ('cept I didn't get to see it -- boo) I'd never seen an I'm A Mormon commercial on TV, or even on the subway. And now Scientology?

I guess... they might think the west is their Best Bet; in the Seattle media market, they're PAST the saturation point.

They're running ads in Utah about Coming Home to Catholicism.

Must be rough all over.

Scientology commercials are far from new, going back to at least 2009. I seem to remember ads for Dianetics going back much further, but can't substantiate.

I saw Dianetics ads in the 80's along with BoM ads during the afternoon cartoon commercial breaks. Both cults have been running ads for a long time.

I'll bet the Dalai Lama has NOT purchased ad time for Super Bowl Sunday........

Scientology was first. They've been doing it for years. Some people say the Mormons copied the idea from the Scilons.

Oh great, Mormonism is taking ideas from Scientology now?

I wish the $cientologists would come up with a "meaty" commercial of their own all about the evil galactic emperor Xenu and how he's infected us all with body thetans - yes, all of us from the planet Teegeeak.

I saw that Scientology commercial during the football game.
I grew up in the New York area and as a kid in the 80's I remember seeing the mormon commercials. I had no idea what a mormon was. At the end of each commercial when a kid's voice would say "From the mormons", I didn't hear it right and thought they were saying "From N'Orleans". So I thought it was a church from New Orleans.
