After being away from the church for a while, I realize that the hymns no longer have any meaning to me whatsoever. Not one of them is a moving piece of art. They are simply a form of mind control. And yet, for so long, I really did want to march with some righteous army, kneel and weep at a mercy seat, etc.

Now, I get more choked up by jingles for soup. Think about it. God loves me, not because He sent His son to get tortured to death, but because soup is good food.

but especially the children's songs. They were nice. But "Put your shoulder to the wheel" and others can go to hell.
