An echo chamber is a group of information outlets that tend to parrot each other's uncritical reports on the views of a single source, or that otherwise relies on unquestioning repetition of official sources. This results in a deceptive condition where the bogus stories ricochet through an echo chamber of multiple talks, testimonies, and church publications, making it sound as if multiple, reliable sources are corroborating the same story.

The numerous blogs of TBMs fall into the category of an echo chamber. Many TBMs only frequent the blogs that agree with their way of thinking. This tends to lead to cultural tribalism where a person is not exposed to countervailing opinions. However, as fluid as the internet is and the ease with which information can be retrieved any one person's echo chamber can quickly implode. One click outside of a person's usual pattern can lead to true, life-changing information.

As with most attempts to control people over the long term this echo chamber, whether intentional or accidental, will not succeed in keeping everyone in line. It is foolish to think that all knowledge is possessed by a few and that most people are incapable of critical thinking. As the many forum posts and blogs of those who left attest, many people are actually very good at thinking for themselves. It must be a sad realization for those who try to con, manipulate, and use others when they realize that their intended victims are actually more astute and critical than they themselves.
