any "advancement" in the church is ALWAYS on the coattails of secular advancement

* the recent changes about homosexuality

* it being ok for women to work (that families have 2 incomes) [although i'm sure there are still some dickheads who give women a guilt trip about this, but it has at least been addressed from the general conference pulpit]

* removing (death) penalties from the temple endowment

* blacks and the priesthood

* polygamy

did i miss anything?
are there any examples disproving my claim?

Changing the BoM intro to damage control DNA evidence that refutes the entire book. Yes, the "secular" world leads with everything good - far more empathetic, forgiving and rational than the cult. (n/t)

Because if they did it first, they might actually have a smidgen of actual revelation and truth to the church.
