Anyone ever heard of a performing mission?

It's in Nauvoo. They pay $400 a month and it's for 4 months. They live by missionary rules. I guess they perform, singing, etc. You have to apply to get in to do it. My SIL thinks it would help my niece in "finding" herself this summer between BYU terms.

So she's going to pay to do a summer job that she should be paid for. WTF?

Yeah, I've seen them. They perform road show-like programs on the stage in Nauvoo's Masonic Hall. As you can imagine, all the things are a highly Disneylandified version of so-called church "history." An example of what you learn: The "Saints" were SO HAPPY in Nauvoo! But they were persecuted. And they had to leave. So many died... So many. (Cue really sad music.) But they found their way to Utah and blossomed under the leadership of their next Holy Prophet! (Cue hopeful music.)
