The FLDS don't want the LDS to define the term either.

Of course so do the AUB and Centennial Park and all the other fundamental offshoots.

Can only have ONE true prophet for the one true church so all the others must be false, right?

The FLDS don't care if they are Christian or not. They beleive they are the legitimate priesthood authority and nothing else matters..They do not need to be defined by the term "Christian" or any other term.

Sort of like what the early Mormons thought.

Here's a useful link to a letter the fundamentalist Mormons wrote declaring that they are indeed 'Mormons':

Combine that with:

“Nothing less than a complete apostasy from the Christian religion would warrant the establishment of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”

- Prophet Joseph Smith, Jr., History of the Church, v. 1, p. xl

a couple of sentences down though it says:
"
But if men through apostasy had corrupted the Christian religion and lost divine authority to administer the ordinances of the Gospel, it was of the utmost importance that a new dispensation of the true Christian religion should be given to the world.
"

thanks for the deseret news link =) i cant believe an apostle actually stuck his neck out and gave a quote:
"
The fact is that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officially discontinued the practice of polygamy in 1890: 118 years ago. It's a significant part of our distant past, not of our present.
"
well, mr cook, you shouldnt have because now you are "officially" a liar:
the church "publicly" stopped polygamy, not "officially". they continued the practice for many years after and "Lorin C. Woolley was excommunicated from the LDS Church in January 1924 for publicizing that LDS Church leaders had taken plural wives after the 1890 Manifesto."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorin_C._Woolley

and polygamy IS a significant part of the present church since the doctrine and covenants still contains the section about "the new and ***everlasting covenant***, including the eternity of the marriage covenant, as also ***plurality of wives***":
http://scriptures.lds.org/en/dc/132

its still there quentin cook. read your scriptures.
