Steps an abuser uses:

Identifying possible victims—actively seek out those who will give the cult an opening into their life.

Collect information—ask a lot of questions

Fill a need—look, we have fellowship and salvation or whatever

Lower inhibitions—Teach members that just because it looks bad doesn’t mean it is, polygamy, tithing, worthiness interviews, temple covenants all teach members to submit to the Church Authority

Initiating abuse—The members now agrees to all callings and tasks as assigned even if they don’t like the calling, they tell themselves it for their own good and eternal progression. Pay tithing even if they don’t have the money. Victims tell on them selves but keep the churches secrets, the victim now agrees to any Church mandates or policy changes even when personal observations tell them it’s wrong to build a mall then tell members they must clean the church.

We know this. Many oof us have been through this grooming, many times at the command of a court of law, employer threatening employment, social services threatening loss of child custody, and at the command of organ transplant teams.

It is always worse when religious indoctrination and conversion is coerced and forced, especially when a cult lies.
