civil unions in IL

I am pleasantly surprised that we have not rcvd a letter fr the Area Pres or SLC regarding opposition to the civil union bill that just passed the house in IL. Gov Quinn is expected to sign (next month?). Possibly they (SLC) were caught off guard by the speedy passage of the bill, or are waiting for the expected push for marriage equality to shove their moral/political ideals onto the sheep.

Anyone have any info on this?

Calling it a "Civil Union", instead of "marriage" takes the fight out of most of the objectors.

Unfortunately, it also usually doesn't give the people in civil unions rights on par with those who are married. (n/t)

The Mormons fought Civil Unions here in Washington State.

And then they tried to keep the list of those Mormons who contributed to the campaign private even though our election laws demand open disclosure. They were afraid of fallout -- the cowardly bullies.

I hadn't voted for several years but I made sure I got in to vote for that one.

It may have been the first election where I ever voted on a winning ballot too. lol!
