I have brother who just to told me that our bishop (who later was a scout leader) had severely molested him and other boys 20 years ago.

Then, that man was called again as bishop to a BYU ward later (he is now deceased).

It's tragic, it's hurtful, it's absurd that we once believed what we were told: That all priesthood authorities were called by God and that we should follow their 'counsel'.

My brother did just that as a young boy. He followed the good priesthood brethren into letting that man stick his penis in his rectum and allowing his hands and fingers steal my brother's innocence and joy of youth.

Moreover, my father refused to help my brother. Fearing political and reputational damage within the hierarchy of our local congregation, my father abandoned my brother to be a victim of another man's horrid behavior -a man who was protected by the false belief that mormon priesthood leaders are called of God.

The mormon church is worse than a whore: it is a molester of children and a haven for its offenders.

That is just so horrible, John. I am so sorry your brother and you have suffered so terribly.

It's making my gut clench.

He should sue the church.

Thank you for your messages of support. My brother is healing by knowing that his individual worth comes from within. The most damaging aspect of mormonism (in my opinion) is that they teach people that their worth, identity, and approval is dependent on the church.

We had a stake president that "everybody" admired and was talked about as being so inspired and inspiring. Well, this man went to the temple to choose two bishops.

He chose one that was later indicted in a con operation which swindled "investors" out of their life's savings.

The other used to call my young teen into his office (without my knowledge) and ream her about her "short" skirts. After 2 1/2 years as bishop he was released, he lost his house, divorced and had a restraining order to stay away from children. It was all very hush, hush.

Furthermore, when this SOB stake president knew about the pedophile bishop, he didn't warn us (we had daughters and sons). (We knew about the bishop, but SP didn't know that we knew. He said nothing to protect our children.) This was my impetus for fleeing this so-called church.

We are set up to be victims to these creeps, and therein lies true evil.

If anyone is interested, PBS had a good program about child sexual abuse in the Catholic church. I know it's not mormon, but I think the principles are the same. It's all about the abuse, the cover ups, a group suing the Catholics, etc.

I posted a link, just in case anyone has about a hour to kill and wants to learn more.

... but I recently discovered that one of my youth leaders was sent to prison for filming himself and an accomplice raping young children. This same "friend" (who had a very graphic pornographic tattoo on his arm) used to accompany him to mutual every week. It sickens me to think that they had access to so many potential victims without any oversight from church authorities. What's worse is that he was apparently already a convicted felon when the bishop was "inspired" to put him in charge of kids.

...that the Mormon chuch would take a lesson from the mistakes that the Catholic church made. And those ended up being some very, very expensive mistakes.

He was my bishop in San Jose in the 70's. I was married for 7 weeks to a Mormon man who I caught molesting his daughter and who actually wanted me to participate in molestation.

The Mormon hierarchy did not chastise him or ex him at all. I had the marriage annulled and the ex went on to marry two more women.

Out of the clear blue one day I get a call from a strange woman who asks me to testify for her. She is trying to protect her daughter from the molester and she poured out her heart to me. Of course I testified for her, and she got her supervised visitation, but together we added up 14 children that he victimized.

They just didn't believe me.

The bastard took a child out of NURSURY and molested her in the Clerk's office. Parents caught him walking out of the Clerks office, were very confused why he had their daughter. Later on the daughter told the parents what had happened. The parents told the Bishop, the Bishop called Salt Lake Headquarters (so he claims) and came back and asked the parents for the names of everybody they had told and said to absolutely not tell a soul about it. Said that the bastard paid a Full Tithing and his wife was the Relief Society President and that it would devastate the ward.

The same Bishop, who ironically donated over $30,000 to Yes on Prop 8. $25,000 via his wife and $5,000 from him called/promoted the Child Molester to be WARD CLERK, from assistant Ward Clerk within a month. This was in South Orange County CA. Interesting that he would fight Gay Marriage, meanwhile Protect Pedophiles from tarnishing Church Reputation at all costs!

The family went inactive and want nothing to do with the cult. Rumors spread that they left because of pride, "Into Money," wanted to drink Etc.. The leadership is constantly trying to trash their reputation, even though they are some of the Pillars of the Community.

Stupid Pedophile protecting CULT!

Misfit,

The Child Molester is in Laguna Niguel 1st ward. Rumor is that they transferred him recently to the Camp Pendleton Military ward in San Clemente.

Makes me sick. The church should be held accountable for harboring sex offenders.

I check the local sex offender list regularly, and when I still went to church a few years ago I would see a man from that list attending another ward in the building. Made me worried to have my kids there with a convicted child molester in the building.

Look up John Gojkovich (pronounced goy-kovich) in Murphysboro IL to see the Carbondale Ward's Sunday School President.

http://www.isp.state.il.us/sor/sor.cfm

He has some health problems and isn't at church every Sunday so if you call the ward bldg he may not be there.

My father is a child molester in the Topeka kansas stake. He has been reported numerous times but the church does absolutely nothing.

I've posted about our Sun School Pres before - the police are aware. If anyone wants to call them they can be reached at 618-684-2121 (Murphysboro Police Dept.). I do not know the name of his parole officer.

As Sun School Pres he oversees all classes for children from ages 12-18, and adults.

Oh I'm hurting so much to read these posts.
I thought it was bad enough finding out about Joe Smith, but to know that it is going on in abundance now just makes me sick to my stomach. I can't get my head around the suffering that these children are/have put up with.
The church needs to be named and shamed and the c#*p individuals doing it should be reported.
It seems to me that the scum people doing these horrible things probably joined the church knowing they would be protected by the 'good' name of the church. Just like we read about those people that get themselves jobs in teaching sports or running youth clubs. It looks like they have the interests of youth at heart but they are doing it for a very selfish reason.
Please, please report anything that you know.

They are exempt from reporting in many states, because of law changes (hmmmm, I wonder who sponsored those changes?) which state that if the abuse is confided to a member of clergy, the clergy person, whether professional or lay minister, can only urge the person to turn themselves in.

They cannot violate the confessional and tell on the person themselves. They cannot tell the mother of the victim, or the wife of the molester.

Big case in Idaho right now involving LDS "counselors" knowing a man molested multiple children, hiding behind that law.

Interesting how many LDS hate big government, think liberals are people who are soft on crime, and think criminals get off due to technicalities libs create as loopholes deliberately for that same purpose---but LOVE big government when it gives their companies and church tax abatements and exemptions, love the liberals who defend them ably when they get charged for their crimes, and also love those technicalities they hide behind when it suits them.

Hypocritical, much?

I have an interesting and sad but unbelievably true story about my own experience and the church and my own TBM family covering up and defending both of my Uncles (one of which was a BYU Proffessor and the other one at one time was a temple worker)who both molested me. But as you can see from that last long run on sentence, I could probably use some help telling it. Actually my whole life would make a great anti-mormon book which I would love to write. If anyone would be interested in helping and knows their anti-mormon facts and has or can research please contact me.

going to promote him to a higher stake calling when the boys he molested came forward. SP told the kids to keep quiet and they just exxed the guy. Probably didn't want to look uninspired.

My FIL who was convicted of multiple first degree felonies of Sexual abuse of a child attended church, wore his garments and wasnt Excommunicated EVEN AFTER HE CONFESSED TO POLICE.. they waited until he was sentenced and taken to prison. In the meantime.. one of his victims was in the same ward... and the parents were called into the Stake Presidents office and TOLD not to bother HIM... they TOLD HIM TO GO TO CHURCH.. ATTEND ALL MEETINGS...and they would be sinning to interfere with his repentence process! Almost a YEAR of this.. the child is in therapy and developed anxiety about going to church (what a shocker!) so the mom and dad are selling the home and moving to a shiny new ward where everything will be sunshine and lollipops....
