Did anyone who was a serial killer ever come from the mormon church? Do you think the mormon church could be detrimental to a childs developing mind, and stimulate the possibility of becoming one? I mean, I wouldnt be surprised if there is, or will be someone who takes brigham young's words to heart and kills interracial couples and people for sinning too much. I wouldnt be surprised if I see at least one serial killer from the church in my lifetime. Im not saying it would be entirely blammed on the church, but that the church's heavy doctorines, and brainwashing would contribute to this.

What do y'all think?

More than one, including Ted Bundy:

Interestingly a few weeks ago my TBM sister in law posted on facebook that ridiculous video where Bundy blames porn. I was tempted to post something about maybe his being Mormon was the cause...

I realize this is crazy old, but I came across this doing some research. Seeing how Ted Bundy was born in 1946, baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1975 (shortly before being arrested for kidnapping), being excommunicated from the church in 1976 (after conviction), and it's believed he began killing in 1972 or earlier, I think it absolutely fair to say the LDS church and the trauma he had as a child within it did not make him a killer. You know, seeing how he was not a member of that church as a child, therefore did not have any said childhood trauma from the church. He also was a killer before he joined the church. He has said he joined the mormons in Utah because it made it easier for him to blend in if he was a member of the main church, not because he believed or practiced.

Ted Bundy is a perfect example of what I've seen Mormonism do to men, particularly. I have a tbm brother who is a lot like that, who currently holds a TR. He will hurt women and children just because he can. He likes it. He has beat his wife, his children, and in his childhood, he famously sexually victimized all of his six siblings, including the boys. <shivers> He would murder if he thought he could get away with it.

He is now the current patriarch on the compound. Grandpa died last year, malignant narcissist father has advanced Alzheimer's. He moved back in to take the reins and conveniently become executor of the estate when his wife divorced him last year, and since then has slowly but surely thrown my folks wealth away on family lawyers. Now, he has gone from supervised visits, to overnight unsupervised, and is working on painting exwife as mentally unstable. Yes, his wife abuse is documented. There was one police report on the sex abuse back in the nineties, when I blew the whistle on it but that was before he was eighteen and my mother only did it as a formality so as not to implicate herself although she knew the shit was going on for years.

You can say antisocial disorders run in my family. Thankfully though, I am hundreds of miles from these people and all I was diagnosed with was major depression and PTSD. Phew, dodged a bullet there I did.

Ugh... "I'd do it again"? *Shivers* I hate it when they blame things like pornography for their crimes. Plenty of people watch pornography without becoming child molesters or rapists. It's all about the individual and how they interpret such things... not necessarily the tools they used to destroy their victims. It's almost like saying, "Well, I killed that person because there was a knife in front of me." No... you killed that person because of the way your mind ticks. Of course... mormons would take a story such as this one and say "See? SEE? this is why you shouldnt look at porn!"

Interesting. I just red Ted Bundy's bio and it said nothing about him being mormon, but only that he lived in utah for a certain period of time.

I doubt he was a practicing Mormon as an adult, but he grew up in a mormon family.
