In the aftermath of Christmas....a wonderful time for some.... filled with treasured memories with loved ones..... excitement of making and sharing gifts with a few people who really matter to you....not the frenzied commercialism to buy buy buy that Wall Street pushes.

For some....not so good....family friction....painful experiences from the past or present....the holidays can create more stress than any other time of year.

It made me reflect this morning about what I treasure more than anything else....the caring and support and hugs of loved ones....indelible images of beautiful places I've burned into memory...deeply moving emotions I've experienced and would lose my very essence if I ever forgot....moments of unutterable peace and harmony with the universe and God and nature....memories of feeling safe and protected, while a child, in the love of a parent...a song or music that lifts me from the mediocre grind of petty cares and trivialities to the wild freedom of soaring in spirit that I'd forgotten how to reach....the perfect cup of coffee steaming in early morning quiet.... clasping the burnished umber sunrise to my soul....learning the freedom to believe and live and dress and talk as I want, instead of letting self-styled suits in a distant tower dictate these to me....

What do you treasure?

I treasure youth, adventure, love, health, meaningful work, music, hiking, books, tea, the mountains of Arizona, art, Macs, philosophy, friends, tennis, learning, teaching, the pursuit of excellence, and fun.

My freedom, my open-mind, wine, delicious food, and off-the-wall sense of humour. Also my beloved BF and kitty.

Love sex magic

You can have all the perks wealth can buy and enjoy all of nature's wonders but after a while of all that, you start to think, "Hey. I want to get laid! I need some love and sex." Sure you can always buy a skank but you can't buy love.

My dog comes to mind first. He is my best friend.

My parents, my kids, my boyfriend, and my ex.
