Question for Troy...

I didn't want to hijack the other thread so I'll ask it here -

Does anyone know what's happened with Ruby (I think that was her name) Jessop? Several years ago she escaped, but was coerced/tricked back in and she just kind of disappeared from view. Am I remembering this correctly?

Good question, BBQ. Ruby Jessop was Flora's little sister ..

..or half sister, IIRC. And something sinister went down with that girl.

She never made it out.

The Utah State government failed miserably on this. This was one of the things that got so embarrassing that they had to do something. But even Orrin Hatch refused to do something about Ruby after we challenged him directly to do so. He has since avoided the topic of polygamy completely.

The problem with Ruby was unfortunately eclipsed by the attention Jeffs was getting because after this was when they got serious about going after him. Poor Ruby never escaped. The last I heard, she'd had two children by the time she was 17. But we never forget her.

I've thought about her over the years and wondered whatever became of her.

Last I heard, she's still in Hildale.

I'll ask Flora next time I talk to her. I've been in contact with her lately.
