“Be ye perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect.” (Matt. 5:48)

Only those who keep all the commandments and for whom the family unit continues in eternity will merit perfection. (Mormon Doctrine, McConkie- Perfection, D&C. 131:1-4, 132:16-32)

“For straight is the gate, and narrow the way that leadeth unto the exaltation and continuation of the lives, and few there be that find it, because ye receive me not in the world neither do ye know me.” (D&C 132:22)

So many hoops to jump through. For nothing.

SoUtSkeptic thinks Dear Abby is spot on.

Advice from Dear Abby:

Why Worry?
There are only two things to worry about:
Either you are well or you are sick.
But if you are sick…
There are only two things to worry about.
Either you are well, or you will die.
If you get well, there’s nothing to worry about.
But if you die, there are only two things to worry about.
Either you go to heaven…or you go to hell.
If you go to heaven, there is nothing to worry about.
But if you go to hell…
You’ll be so busy shaking hands with friends…
You won’t have time to worry.

Wow. That's awesome. And given my life the last few months, it puts things into perspective. Thank you for that, soutskeptic. That's going on my fridge and to my friends.

Just reading that made me feel tired. If I were still TBM I would also feel hopeless.

"Don’t shop on Sunday’s"

The Bretheran can't punctuate.

The apostrophe is too complicated for these folks.

Did this come from the church? Jim Jones' koolaid would be looking pretty good to me right now if I were still in. This list does nothing but invoke the image of slack-jawed droolers who've lost their minds. Who has the time, in a lifetime, to do all that, much less in one year?

And "[p]rovoke" your husband to righteousness? That neither denotes nor connotes the way to help a spouse. Guess that's their little Christian dig at the wicked ways of the wayward sheep.

weeder, was your mission in CA? A couple of facts from someone I know are identical to those of your mission, to the month and year--and being in the pres's office at said time.

A couple of omissions:

Get diagnosed for depression and anxiety - take pills daily
Suffer from chronic exhaustion and guilt

I made a similar list once, in all sincerity. I thought if I had all the things I was supposed to be doing down in one list, I could manage to do them all.

I was such a TBM!
