Ezra taft benson was all about the Book of mormon. Hunter was about temple attendance. Hinckley was all about mainstreaming the church and making it acceptable/consumable by the masses....

but Monson seems to be drifting. No purpose. No focus. In fact, I sense that he does not enjoy this. He much preferred being #2 and letting Hinckley run things.

He wants to be the advisor to the Tabernacle Choir.

He focuses on wiggling his ears. That's difficult and takes enormous concentration!!

I think if TSM could change things, he would probably have people use more words to express less information and put a lot of uncomfortable pauses in between those words. That's his intellectual legacy.

He made it to the top of the heap, now he is just going to coast. He dabbled in stomping on the gays & that blew up in his face. He got stuck with the legacy of Hinckley's concrete erection a.k.a. CCC & idiotic PR legacy, which he wishes was not there, but he knows it will all be over soon enough for him & he already made it to the top which was everything he wanted right there.

It's just a matter of becoming old that puts one in power. The only achievement is that of not keeling over into the funeral potatoes at those too-frequent opportunities to do so.
