One of the first steps in changing my mind about my beliefs in the claims of the LDS Church, was to identify, change, delete, replace all of the automatic thinking scripts that had been subtly imprinted by the teachings of the religion over many, many years. I made a list of over 50, which I have posted in the past.

It was important for me to identify what composed the authentic me.
I recognized, early on, that these thinking scripts were taking me where the LDS Church wanted me to go. Hmmm. I found I could very easily use the power of my thoughts to take me where I want to go. This was a whole new kind of freedom.

For instance:
When I was a member of the LDS Church, one of the major thinking scripts was:
Who am I and why am I here:
I am a child of God and I came to earth to gain a body and be tested.

A new thinking script on that notion of:
Who am I and why am I here might be something like this:
I am a unique human being with the ability to live life authentically and to the fullest.

What are some of your new thinking scripts? How have you created your personalized New World View? What has the process been like for you?
