Something our new friend edmarc said in another post I wanted to just address real quick.

Edmarc, you asked the collective group here if we left because the LDS church ITSELF offended us, or whether we left because of offensive PEOPLE.

Well, my friend, things aren't that cut and dry. For me, it was a combination of both. "The church is perfect, the people aren't." Yeah well, that statement can suck my pituitary gland.

DOCTRINES AND REVELATIONS are at least 75% of the reason I left. As can probably be gleaned from my moniker(god, I miss that girl), I'm a loud, proud, and adorable homosexual. The DOCTRINE that was "HANDED DOWN BY GOD" is that the act of homosexuality is akin to bumping uglies with your dog or forcing your pet parakeet to perform unspeakable acts of depravity while you're dressed head to toe in latex and peanut butter. But I digress.

This particular "doctrine" *IS* the church itself. According to LDS dogma, these things come directly from the mouth of God, and God is perfect, so there's no way in hell he could ever make any kind of mistake.

So, yeah. I guess that's all I have to say.

Time to go get myself a nice hard candy.

So before you "came out" were you a TBM, or somewhat rebellious the whole time? Just curious.

Seriously, the nicest and most intelligent person I met since being back from my mission was gay. Loved the guy. If my son turns out to be gay and is like that guy, then I wouldn't mind, though I would love for my son to inherent the women-loving gene so we can share in his exploits....I'll teach him to be a lady killer. By the way, I didn't approve of gay marriage being legal for quite some time after ditching Mormonism, but after writing some things that I intended to publish on the web, I thought myself out of it. I don't care. If you were to have a kid be adopted by a couple, it is highly likely that a gay couple could do just as well or better because they are committed to each other. Watch William Bradshaw's videos on Mormonstories.org and see what he has to say about his gay son. It was amazing to hear. If he, being a BYU professor, can fully accept his son for who he is, then you can accept your brother. Happy pondering.
