for his insight into gays some 27 years ago. If I still had the letter (which I burned because it caused me to have DARK FEELINGS)--I'd post it. My dad asked me for it 3 years ago as he was going to publish it in the SLTribune.
He didn't even address gays--he told me he was too important to be bothered by me (my bishop had told me I could write him). He berated me. He almost caused my suicide had my sister and BIL not been there when I opened the letter.
Bitter? You bet I'm bitter SOME DAYS. BUT most of the time, if people like me are quiet--if we don't stand up for gay rights, then there will be more and more women just like me, more and more children just like mine, and more and more men just like my husband who find themslves picking up the pieces of the mess that our lives became.
The rest of the time, I'm grateful I married my ex becuase the gay issue GOT US OUT THE CHURCH. I say we saved each other now. He is a wonderful intelligent individual and I could have done much worse marrying a "regular" mormon guy. I'm now back with the love of my life who I gave up at age 20 because he wasn't mormon and have been for 6 years.
You might be surprised that I still retain ALL my mormon friends. They may not like that I no longer believe, but they still are my friends.
I took LEMONS and I MADE LEMONADE--my family was not destroyed. The mormon church tried--but they were not able to do it.
