I read on a previous post that the "acceptance standards" for missionaries had been changed about 10 years ago. Implying that not just any 19 year old kid that goes thru the temple can go on a mission. (as it was in my day)
Does anyone know what the standards are in order to be accepted as a missonary?

The big ones are obviously sex related.

1. No recent same sex relationship or desires.
2. No multi partner or multi instance sex (hetero). This means more than three times with one person or more than one time with three persons. Less and you wait a year and can go. More and there is no forgiveness from the church.

3. Free of self abuse for at least 2 months.

Oh, and no tattoos.

a history of mental health problems. I don't know that it's across the board, but I know a number of men who had to wait a few years while they sorted out some issues with bipolar disorder and/or depression. I know a few others that were outright rejected, and permanently-- it was devastating to them.

There's also a height/weight chart. We had a kid in our ward who was 6'3" and probably 285. Six months after he left, the height/weight chart came out and he would have had to lose about 40# to go on a mission.

Don't know if that is still in effect, but it was in 2003-4.
