I only watched spots of this series, but I lived near Meridian when all of this happened.
Rob Hall is lying, and his wife, too.
He brought the gun to confront the lawyer - who was having an affair with his wife (the lawyer's employee).
There were two shots, then one shot. Hall shot the lawyer twice, then himself. This was the statement his wife gave to the police that night.
Then, at the trial, she decided to tell a different story (as did Hall) that the lawyer took Hall's gun from him and shot Hall in the head, and then Hall somehow got the gun back and shot the lawyer twice (heart and head), although he doesn't remember doing that.
Yeah, right.
On a side note, I really dislike watching Dateline because they must think that their viewers are very slow in the head. After each commercial break, they repeat half the stuff that was said in the last segment. JUST GET ON WITH THE STORY! They could tell the whole story in half the time...
I think they do that for people who flip around. Maybe you didn't see the segment before the commercial break -- you just flipped over, looking for something that wasn't a commercial.
That said, it's still ridiculously annoying and insulting to the viewers' intelligence.
I have a few friends in Boise but I don't know the story. There was a story about an older TBM couple in Ammon who was murdered awhile ago. I think it was on the same show. It ended up being the kid that mowed their lawn or something like that.
kj: I don't know if they did test the lawyer's hands for gunpowder residue. That implausible story only came up several weeks/months after the event, probably when Hall and his lawyers tried to contort the facts to get out of his crime.
I knew all 4 of them. Ms. Corrigan was the innocent one. Hall is a murderer ... duly convicted. Hall's wife is in prison as a convicted embezzler. She's a liar. The truth is in neither one of them. Emmett Corrigan cheated on his wife, too. A very sad story. Ms. Corrigan is now remarried and moving on with her life.
I agree -- Robert Hall is innocent! He took his gun, when he went to confront Corrigan, because he knew Corrigan was a arrogant upstart. It was Corrigan who was over the top. There, certainly, was not proof beyond a reasonable doubt. I think Robert Hall should have taken the stand to testify in his trial; he would have been a good witness (sincere).
Yet another example of a cheating, lying, sinning Mormon who walks around society acting holier than the rest of us. I dated a Mormon for two years who cheated on me, and also on her ex-husband. That religion is a joke! Formed by a scam artist and a bunch of sex starved thugs, they created a religion and used it to create a 'legit' reason for polygamy. They didn't allow blacks to join fully until 1978, and joseph smith thought 'negros' were their own species. People, read the book "One Nation Under Gods" by Richard Abanes if you want to know how the Mormon church really carried on during the past 150+ years. Google "mountain meadows massacre" if you want to read a shocking story about how mormons behaved. They have sanitized all this in their 'official' documentation
I watched this when it aired awhile back. I felt so sorry for Mr. Hall. I know what it's like to have a prick go after your wife, especially when you have a young family. The prick attorney was playing w/ fire...and that's what happens sometimes when you mess with ANOTHER MAN'S WIFE. Just ask Joe Smith what happens when you do that. There's a lot of passion there. I caught my TBM wife red handed, and it was all I could do not to avoid a bad scene. I don't blame any man for losing it when someone goes after his wife. In France, crimes of passion are taken into account..so Anonomous above, duly convicted in this country, but not so obviously convicted in others country's. Moral of the story - don't f*ck w/ another man's wife.
Rob hall is one of my best friends brother, and the father of his cousins who are also my friends, that guy deserved to be blasted in the face 100 yards from my house, fuck that guy.
I agree. The wife of Emmett has started a blog detailing the murder and aftermath and when I came across it, it was the first time I had heard of the story. I read her blog and watched the dateline story. I am perplexed by her defense of her husband (by her own admission he treated her like dirt) and blame of Rob and Kandi (although she sounds like a lying, cheating scam artist.) Emmett chose to sleep with a married woman and taunt her husband. His behavior had consequences that essentially cost him his life. If I were his wife I would be thanking my lucky stars he is dead and buried. If they had divorced he would have made her life a living hell and possibly ended up with custody of her kids. He seems like he was so morally corrupt all he cared about was winning at any cost.
The kicker was that Mrs Hall stated the victim started mocking Mr Hall's salary. 40K in a year compared to the vicim's 27K a week. He did apparently did that the night they had their confrontation.
Thrown that in with roid rage and the victim had filed divorce papers for ms hall, it was going to explode.
Ms hall had been intimate that same night with the victim.
when the dust settles, the victim should have just had his wife leave and contacted the victim's wife. The victim's wife even stated her husband was lying to a family friend counselor about how the wife was fooling around, knowing it was him. I suspect he was planning on leaving his poor wife for ms hall and vice versa.
the real victim are the kids and in a small degree mr hall. he got bullied by a hot shot young attorney on steriods who couldn't just walk away with mr hall's wife, he had to mock the guy and call mr hall's family members and threated him.
mr hall is by no means a saint. he got what he deserved and if he had an affair before all this as ms hall stated, he owns part of this whole thing.
Maybe there was no affair and Emmett found Kandi embezzling and confronted her and that's why they killed him... How do we know they were truly having an affair... Other than that is Kandi's version of the story
This story hits so close to home for me. I live in Idaho, my ex is a narcissistic, womanizing, attorney, LDS better than thou Mormon. I know of at least 2 angry husbands, one who actually had the gun in hand and was on his way over to shoot my ex when a friend talked him out of it. He very well could have been murdered, but instead has lived to pay child support for the four children he had with me.
Sad story all around, more common than we think, not all cases end in murder. But they all end in destroyed lives.
Life is a test...it has nothing to do with any particular religion. But as a Mormon whose dream life was shattered by a narcissistic former Bishop who cheated and stole my entire inheritance ..well all I can say is, life goes on and it becomes sweet again.
In most cases the woman being cheated on is left with the kids and may (or may not) get regular and largely insufficient child support. And her status as a divorced woman is so much worse than that of a widow. Ashlee (the mom with 5 kids) should honestly thank her lucky stars he died. She got status and a fresh start - unlike so many other women.
And - I think whatever went down was orchestrated by Kandi. She was playing everybody from what I'm hearing - no I do not have any more information that anyone else on this forum. Just listen to the alleged conversations (e.g., I earn more money than you)and watch her demeanor. Also, one of the commenters said something about Ashlee's marriage being bad so she should have known - look at the kids and their ages. Marriage with 5 very young children will be having some rough moments; especially if dad is 1)starting a new business; 2) doing roids and loving the body building; and 3) wandering. Ashlee said she knew about the drugs but comments about some letter about the affair being sent to her is new news to me. Does that mean she knew for sure?
Kandi has some acting skills. Con artist to boot. Two men acting out because of her. Hope her kids get somewhere safe away from her, who knows how she would be manipulating them. The LDS guy,on steroids...geeze, maybe he was planning on taking his second wife, apparently J.Smith could just take someone else's wife too.
Seems like Kandi was setting something up. ...she says her daughter called her and asked why her "car" was at Walgreens, and then called her dad to tell him the car was at Walgreens....Kandi said she told her husband before she left that she was going to Walgreens. Why would her daughter see her car and think she was not IN Walgreens? Seriously, sounds like it was a call from Hubby to tell Kandi to bring in the steroid guy. Maybe they were going to blackmail him.... Have him beat up the husband and then say no charges will be pressed if he pays up.... Because apparently $$ is a big deal in the Kandi world. Must have discussed hubby's salary with steriod man. Yes,,,,it's all Kandi. Why isn't she in jail for masterminding the whole thing?
I just saw Dateline. I cant believe it! I knew Kandi and Rob when they lived in Calif. Lost touch with her as time went on in Idaho. Wow, still shocked cant believe this happened but then on the other hand not so much. There were rumors she had an affair when they lived here and the weird thing is that Emmett looks a lot like the guy she was rumored to be sleeping with here. I also was shocked she is in prison too..........wow embezzlement! I watched her demeanor and same ole Kandi. I am more surprised by Rob, he is a very nice guy. Very personable - really nice guy. Wow, I am so shocked I know someone that is featured on tv show about murder of all things.
My heart goes out to Ashley, her children, and the Hall Children, only innocent victims in this nightmare. Kandi is exactly where she belongs, wish it was for more time. Too bad her previous employer did not press charges sooner, maybe all of this could have been avoided. I hope her daughter's have nothing to do with her, their lives will be better without her in them. I hope one day Mr. Hall gets released and stays away from her, and moves on with his life. I'm happy for Ashley and her children, I wish her and her husband happiness and success in their marriage. God bless them. May Emmett RIP.
