I have wondered if there would be any fallout. So far, none. That being said, I know virtually nobody in the ward I lived in. Never been in the building. I asked for discretion and confidentiality from the bishop when I resigned and it appears he has honored my wishes. I have wondered how I would have explained my leaving to my parents but since they are long dead it is moot. Dad would have been easier to sell it to.
My wife's family have been very supportive...they are mostly all Catholics. Good drinking buddies all. I also have a great group of friends...all nevermo's. I can't imagine having a social void to fill had I been active and then quit the cult cold turkey. But I never really was a Mormon. Not in my soul...the only place it counts. So life is good. I have a wonderful family, great friends and at age 65 I'm retired, but I ain't gonna sit on the porch and drink and feel sorry for myself. I'm gonna go trap shooting...it's what I do...
