I'm 37 years old today. The New Yorker article about the BOM piqued my curiosity about the topic and I found you guys.

I was raised in a Mormon family. My older brother served on a Mission and my Mom was pretty devout; She'd take us every Sunday to the ward, Thursday nights for Basketball. She was my Seminary teacher, the whole 9 yards.

When I was in High School I found myself not agreeing with a lot of the doctrine I was learning in Seminary and Sunday School. For me, I left because there were a lot of things I didn't agree with. Fast forward two years, while I was in college, I tried going back, but I just didn't "feel the spirit". So I left.

My Mother was pretty pissed, but I stuck to my guns. I was dating a girl that wasn't Mormon and so she and my brother shut me out. Sure enough, 6 years later, my brother left the church and my mother followed suit.

I was right all along.
