Why? Because none of my active LDS friends & family are posting. It just hit me tonight when my nevermo wife asked if any of them were. Yup, one of the profit's (yes, intentional) most inspired ideas! I do kind of miss all of the "Proclamations to the World" that no one gives a rats behind about.

I was once upon a time. I was an elders quorum president about six months after I completed my mission. I had been home six months so I was married. No surprise, right? They called me in one day & said I was needed as a 70. I got to attend a solemn assembly & everything. We visited other wards in the stake & attempted to help them with their missionary work. If there was fu

That I really don't believe anymore. I've been out 25 years last October. Mormon friends think I'm going through a phase & that I'll come back. Non-Mormon friends still tease about me really being a Mormon at heart. There's no escaping it! Four years ago, I made the decision to move 145 miles away from the small town where I lived the last 50 years. I now have a new beginning.

I've been fighting a bad cold for over a month. Being my stubborn self I just kept going. I even made a three day trip across the continent last weekend. Yesterday morning I was so sick I finally listened to my wife & went to the walk-in clinic. Sure enough, walking pneumonia. I'm a guy who never gets sick so it's been a weird experience for me. Let's all get better out there!

A WA state Chenin Blanc late harvest wine. It's very sweet. Not my usual type of wine but I have a bad head cold & maybe that has something to do with my need for sweet wine.

Yup, John Denver was one of a kind. During my awkward teen-age years, raised under the oppression of Mormonism, & the fear of being drafted, he was a ray of hope. I also share the love he had for flying. It's a bit ironic that flying ended his life. Sometime when I'm up in my airplane enjoying the flight...his music enters my thoughts. And, yes, he was cheesy as hell. Far out.

A day or two ago it hit me that I'd been out of the "church" 25 years. When I told the church leaders I'd had enough & quit attending they eventually x'ed me. They came at with with a full court press to guilt me into coming back. I got rebellious, lived on the wild side giving them ample reasons to throw my rear out. I was told my life would be misery & in my stake pres

Talisker. Pretty good scotch. I've been at the winery with my wine maker wife this evening doing punchdowns. I figured after all that hard late-night work I needed a nightcap.

Laphroaig 10 year scotch. This is not a high end scotch but at ~$60.00 a bottle it's pretty good.

A nice Tempranillo from the Columbia River AVA. Even though I'm married to a winemaker, a fine scotch is still my drink of choice.

A red wine that my winemaker wife made. It's super Tuscan blend. I may finish the night with some scotch. Laphroig most likely. A couple of nights ago I was in Eastern Idaho on business. I was invited to dinner with one of my vendors at his house. Very TBM, just released as a bishop. Jesus & temple pictures all over the damned place. We had BBQ'd steaks. Being married to a wi

35. I can't wait until I turn 71 years old so I can say I lived more of my life as an exmo than a mo. It will be a over a decade before that happens.

Laphroaig 10-year scotch. Can't beat the peat! Might have a glass of Talisker 10 year old scotch when I finish the Laphroaig. On special occasions I dig into the cabinet for the real spendy stuff. These are my everyday scotches. I can afford expensive scotch since I don't have to pay tithing any more. Freedom..................................!

I think Minerva Teichert's work is pretty good too. I suppose I always sought it out after I served a mission with her nephew who talked about her all the time. He was one of my favorite companions too. From Wyoming.

What a tragic event. As a Flight Instructor I know that winter flying in the mountains is risky. Unfortunately, general aviation is not as safe as driving in a car but most of the accidents are due to poor judgment of the pilot. Old pilot saying "There are old pilots & bold pilots...but no old, bold pilots. I've got lots of flying hours in my 40 years as a pilot but I still

Well...I agree 100% with the decision. I did a two-year stint there as an indentured servant. The happiness & contentment of the Danish people helped lead me away from the corrupt corporation that sent me there. I was there again in 2007 & am still smitten with Denmark. It was much better as a civilian though! I should add the disclaimer that I am of Danish heritage so perhaps

I'm always on a P-day. Life is a blast! If I'm not helping my wife in the winery I'm out on a motorcycle or up flying. My TBM parents think my days are numbered! I know it bothers my TBM family that I've prospered so much since "losing the spirit". Oh, I do work a little too so the bills get paid.

I served a mission in a European country in the mid 70's. I left the so called church in 1991. Today. I received a Facebook friend request from a lady in said country. I remembered her so I decided to friend her. I received a long message from her stating that even though she was a member on record & married to a TBM she had quit going to church the fall of 2014. She was a young inve

My TBM family are all encouraging prayer for those who fail to understand this inspired change of policy. Meanwhile, my returned missionary nephew who recently came out has "I'm a happy apostate" all over his facebook. Very polarizing indeed.

My mission was the beginning of the end for me. I was raised believing that true happiness could only be found in life if you lived the "true gospel". When I arrived in Denmark & found a very joy-filled, fun-loving, happy people it confounded me. What could I offer these people? They were big on spending time with friends & family & not so big on god & material w

Thanks for all of the suggestions. We will be staying in Bremen, spending time in Hanover, Airbus plant in Hamburg, & the last two day in Berlin. This is the pre-arranged business trip the first week. It's the second week where we'll be free of business to explore on our own. I rented a car in Munich & will depart out of Frankfurt five days later. Wineries, castles, & historic

Great report. My wife had her first unsuccessful marriage in that church & graduated from Bothell High. Her parents still reside there. I attend the catholic church a few times a year with my wife of six years & really enjoy it. No pressure to join or participate. I am consider joining someday. I figured I should hedge my bets. Kind of a Pascal sort of thing.

1) The mission you served (including years) Copenhagen Denmark 1975 -77. 2) Do you have any "gay" companions? Did they attempt anything with you? Nope. Never heard of any gay activities. 3) How did the sister missionaries "look" in your mission? We had no sister missionaries in Denmark at the time. We heard it was because of all of the open porno. 4) Did y

I do business with several European companies so I get to travel over there on occasion. I was in Netherlands/Belgium last month for example. After six years of marriage the stars aligned & my wife gets to travel with me this trip. We leave on the 7th of November & will have a one week business trip to Northern Germany. After that, we're flying to Munich where we'll rent a car for an

I totally disagree with the premise of the video. This gentleman has obviously never met a real sommelier. Being married to a wine maker & living in the heart of WA State wines there is a difference. Heck, even a hick like me can discern the difference. That said, there are some really good cheap, grocery store wines that I really enjoy. Drink what you enjoy!
